Thanks to all No problem that can't be handled -- I'm a Mac user myself. NEWSREADING From experience I'd suggest you get yourself a copy (free) of Yet Another News Watcher, YANW. It has been the premier Mac newsreader for a long time, offering a great range of features and having excellent filtering ability for spam handling. There are newer related versions, such as Multi-Threaded News Watcher, but I simply haven't felt impelled to check them out. Might be that they have features I'd love, if I took the time to look. One of the newer alternatives is Hogwasher ($49), which has the ability to be run as an off-line reader if that is of interest to you. More on H/W below. POSTING There has been a great lack of Mac programs for handling bulk posting. YANW will automatically send a group of messages, but each one has to be individually constructed beforehand, with a limit of one attachment. I actually bulk post using the PC program AutoPost running with SoftWindows on the Mac, because there was no other way to go a year ago. Now, Hogwasher has become available, with a built in bulk posting capability. As far as I know Swordfish, another Macster, is using H/W -- I probably would be too, if I hadn't already solved the problem a different way. But, even if I did post with Hogwasher, I'd still be using YANW for basic newsreading and single message work. Program is just TOO good. Of course things change day by day, and a thorough search of available Mac newsreaders might turn up a new Shining Wonder at any time. If you find one, please pass the word. VERIFICATION As you will find in the FAQ, verification is a big thing in the group. Our standard program for the purpose is JPEG Sheriff -- a PC only item. There is a freeware Mac program called FileCollector which cannot creat CRC lists the way Sheriff does, but does permit you to verify your own files by using Sheriff CRC lists after moderate re-formatting in a text editor. Well, could ramble on this way forever. If you have any Mac-related questions pass them along and I'll do my best to help.
