Subject: Attn: Group <> New crcpkg <> Please Read & Download Date: Tue, 28 Jul 1998 12:41:15 GMT From: swordfish@writeme.com (Swordfish) Hi, I am filling in for Austin for a short while. The following crcs are, with the exception of the newest shr and me&yourmother crc, the same as before as far as verification goes. (They have additions to reflect the weekend postings of HR and SHR) The lists themselves have been changed to reflect the groups transition from a hodgepodge of upper and lowercase filenames to a more consistant lowercase filename policy. In the coming weeks we will be hoping that many of you will choose to "convert" your files names in your collections. There are several programs available for that so you won't have to do it by hand They have been tested extensively and they DO NOT effect the validity of your pics. Stay tuned for a post addressing these software proggies...they exist for both PC as well as Macintosh. You will NOT have to download your collection. Many of us have talked about this and feel it is desirable to have a collection that has consistanly all the same filename case. This means that your collection will look like hr-001-f, 7teen003 & hr-brasil-009; rather then perhaps HR-001-F, 7teen003 & HR-brasil-009. The majority of the major posters have already for some time now been posting only lowercase named pics and so the transitions will be fairly easy. For those of you that think this is silly and pointless - no problem. You do not have to do this. This is a voluntary movement. So...posted along with this is the new crcpkg.zip with all lowercase file names. The only purpose for changing the crc is so that when someone uses Sheriff to produce a "Wanted" list it will have the same consistancy I have been talking about. It is much easier to read a list with the same filesname case. As usual, if have said in many words what I should have said in few. Please feel free to email me with ny concerns or questions.
